At Riverview we place a unique emphasis on companionship and stimulation as part of our commitment to providing holistic culturally appropriate care.

All residents need to feel a balance of security and privacy while still enhancing social and recreational connections within our Riverview community.

Our long heritage in this semi-rural area has meant we have a very rich tapestry of local people, Pastors and Ministers, Kaumatua, Musicians and Artists and community Volunteers who generously donate their time, skills and talents to Riverview bringing a variety of activities and experiences to our residents ensuring that every day is filled with meaning and with aroha.

Riverview is delighted to have an Activities Coordinator specializing in Diversional Therapy, who takes great delight in creating an exciting array of activities and excursions that promote friendships, knowledge, increase skills, and enhance overall stimulation.

What our trustees have to say about Riverview

Riverview is perfectly located in the heart of the Kaipara, giving residents easy access to nearby cafes and local attractions.

Whether it’s a morning at the Kauri Museum followed by lunch in the Matakohe Tearooms, a summer picnic at Mangawhai or a nostalgic drive to the water’s edge at Whakapirau with freshly caught Kaipara fish for dinner, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the local scenery.

A mobility scooter is freely available for our residents to travel safely into town for a local Sunday Morning church service, a visit to the library or simply to visit our local shops or Post Centre.

Our Rest Home and Dementia Unit have a Garden Club, who run an annual Sunflower Growing Competition,  Bingo Evenings, Puzzle Afternoons, Arts & Crafts,  Animal Day and Movie Day.

We also have a Coffee Group, a Hair & Nail Pampering Day, Hydrotherapy (transport provided) and Stretch Sessions which are chair based so those with varying levels of mobility can all participate.

We are also starting up Grandparent Days! These will be held during the School Holidays with fun activities for children and Grandparents/residents alike, enabling more special memories to be made.

Riverview’s aim is to ensure that though the move from home will be associated with mixed feelings, your loved ones will experience the personalized, respectful care and compassion that makes Riverview, Maungaturoto’s Haven for Seniors.
